Jurong Island is located to the southwest of the main island of Singapore, off Jurong Industrial Estate. It is also the largest of Singapore's outlying islands and home to many petrochemical companies. In the petrochemical sector, maintenance is a critical part of the operation to prevent machine downtime and ensure optimal performance.
Lubrication is a major factor in preventing premature bearing failure and understanding the method of greasing bearings is vital to maintain the reliability of the equipment. With a long-standing partnership, our client, Sembcorp Corgen based in Jurong Island, wanted to provide a refresher training for all maintenance staff on bearing lubrication since they perform many predictive maintenance (PM) jobs for rotating equipment and to learn about greasing as it is also a part of their PM program.
They reached out to SLS to conduct a training program for 11 employees comprising the product (grease) team, senior maintenance engineers and technicians. As time was an essence for the organization, we provided the participants with the convenience to conduct an in-house training at their premise.
The first session of the day started off with a basic bearing introduction by our technical and service engineers Mr. Yang Meng Fatt and Mr. Alex Lim. Participants found the session to be useful and requested for more information on the topic. The second half of the day was focused on lubrication selection in which our participants were able to gain more knowledge about greasing.

At the end of the session, the maintenance manager mentioned that the training has benefited them greatly. With the technical knowledge and patience explanation of our engineers throughout the course, the participants now have a deeper understanding on lubrication and able to apply what they have learned in their operation.
